Our carpet is only six years old. Does it really need cleaning?
Age is not the measure, traffic is. Six years of shoes, socks and cooking oil in the air leaves a bound oily film at the base of the pile that a vacuum cannot reach. The carpet still looks acceptable because the wear is even across the room. Look at what comes out of the first extraction and the answer is usually obvious without any argument from us.
Will a deep clean wear out builder grade carpet faster?
No. Hot water extraction done correctly removes soil, and soil is what wears carpet, because every grain of grit at the base of the pile works like sandpaper when someone walks on it. What damages carpet is over wetting, harsh alkaline chemistry left in the fiber, and rotary brushes run over a soft pile. We rinse on the acid side and control the moisture.
How long does a main level plus basement take?
